De Aquí y De Allá: The Story Behind the Design

De Aquí y De Allá: The Story Behind the Design

At Las Changuis Tianguis, every piece we create holds a story and De Aquí y De Allá is one of the closest to my heart.

Because for so many of us, belonging has never been a simple answer.

“Porque la tierra es de quien la trabaja” goes beyond the monetary contributions we make to this capitalist nation. It’s about the deep, ancestral connection our people have to the land, one that can’t be erased by borders, policies, or papers.

It's nuestras abuelitas hablándole a sus plantitas while watering them with cariño. It's nuestros abuelos looking at the sky, whistling with the birds at sunrise.

It’s the memory of our ancestors, who walked these lands long before anyone decided to draw imaginary lines over them.

To be de aquí y de allá is to belong everywhere and nowhere at once.

It’s carrying generations of resilience in our blood, moving through spaces that try to define us, while refusing to be confined.

We are the children of migration.
The keepers of traditions.
The ones who plant roots wherever we stand.

This design was made for those who have ever felt split between two places, two languages, two versions of themselves, only to realize:
we never needed permission to belong.

Porque la tierra nos reconoce, aunque los mapas nos nieguen.
